For the past 18 years, Genworth has tracked the cost of care nationwide to help families understand long term care costs.
The 2021 survey covers 437 regions and is based on data collected from more than 14,000 providers, making this data the most comprehensive of its kind.

Key findings:
- Cost for home health aides grew by 12.5% over 2020 data. The compound annual growth rate for the past 5 years is 5.92%.
- The cost of homemaker services, which includes assistance with "hands-off" tasks such as cooking, cleaning and running errands, increased over 10% in the last 12 months alone.
- Assisted living costs grew by 4.65%.
- Minnesota once again has the highest national costs for home care at $36/hour or $227 a day for home health aides. That’s over $82,000 per year. Click here for states rankings.
